Infosys has started helping some of its top customers set up captive technology centres in low-cost locations such as India, a bold departure from its traditional strategy and a testament to the changing business model and priorities at the nation's $146-billion information technology industry.
Executives aware of the new strategy, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Infosys has recently helped US financial services company Visa set up a brand-new technology centre and held talks with Daimler AG on building a technology facility for the German automotive giant.
